We accept children from the age of 3 to 11 (note it is required that children under the age of 5 are accompanied by a parent).

Children are specially welcome at St. Wilfrid’s and in Junior Church|
Junior Church is split into two groups; "Little Flames" our group for Infant school children, and "Ablaze" for Junior school children. We meet every Sunday at 10:30am in the Church Hall (except the third Sunday in the month which is a Family Eucharist see below) and we follow the same bible readings as the adults - but we do it slightly differently, involving story telling, singing, craft and experiments! When weather allows, we have our classes under the cherry tree in the garden as the whole area is secure. Special events in our yearly calendar include: Harvest Festival, All Saints day, Remembrance Sunday, Saint Wilfrid’s day, Christmas, Epiphany (with cake), Lent (pancakes!), Good Friday, Easter, Ascension and Pentecost. On the third Sunday of the month there is a special Family Eucharist at which all children, including the children and staff from Nyewood Infant and Junior School are present and contribute to leading our service. |

Care of Children They often seem to feel comfortable and at home in the building, and enjoy the colourful activity of worship, and its quieter moments.
If you feel the need to take a restless child out of the
service, there is a comfortable room set aside for this where our junior church
meets.
Everyone who works with children here at St Wilfrid’s has been checked by the Criminal Records Bureau. We follow strict diocesan guidelines and have specialist advisers available. Further information can be obtained from our Junior Church Leader or Child Protection Officer. |
