Many of the congregation of St.Wilfrid’s will remember Sheila, wife of our Vicar Rev. Harold Embleton 1976 - 84.

Our sympathy goes to her husband and son.

Sheila had a happy disposition and this assisted her in her young days when she had a resident post with the Greek royal family in Athens and special care of the Princess Sophia which was to develop into a friendship which lasted until the end of Sheila’s life.

As an adult the Princess married the King of Spain and as Queen (sitting in the centre of the picture below) she visited England frequently and always visited Harold and Sheila in London for many years.

Sheila and Harold visited them in Spain for many family events, and later, when Sheila’s health made it impossible for her to travel at all, the Queen visited them in Eastbourne.

In appreciation of your days at St.Wilfrid’s church. May God bless you.
