It is the work of the Holy Spirit to show us Jesus. It is the work of the Holy Spirit to enable us to keep the Commandments of Jesus. It is the work of the Holy Spirit to make us like Jesus, whole, truly human, real and loving. It is the Work of the Holy Spirit to quicken our conscience, not in guilt but in gentle self awareness which leads to dependence on God in repentance and prayer.. It is the work of the Holy Spirit to convey gifts of character, Joy, Peace and Hope. It is the wish of the Holy Spirit to give us gifts of ministry and service for the building up of God’s people the Church and to enable God’s kingly rule to be extended throughout the world in justice and in peace. It is the work of the Holy Spirit to stimulate the desire to pray I us so we call God, Abba, Father. It is the work of the Holy Spirit to deepen worship in us so that we want to attend to God daily in private prayer and in the Eucharist together. It is the work of the Holy Spirit to infuse the liturgy with meaning and with light so that the words and the actions of the Eucharist cease to be merely forms or rituals but conveyors of grace and healing love. It is the work of the Holy Spirit to show us what is right and what is wrong as we make decisions daily and to walk and to live in the right. It is the work of the Holy Spirit to make the word of God alive in our hearts so it speaks to us of God and his ways. It is the work of the Holy Spirit to enable us to love one another warts and all. It is the work of the Holy Spirit to lead us into mission and service in the world of which we are a part as we say at the end of the Eucharist “Go in Peace to love and serve the Lord” and we might add “In the power of the Holy Spirit Amen”
