Stewardship

Whether you are a casual visitor or regularly attend one of our services your financial support for the cost of running St. Wilfrid's is very much appreciated.

The weekly running cost  for the Parish of St. Wilfrid is currently about £92,000 a year or £1,770 a week.

A very important part of the income we need to meet this expenditure is currently £49,000 of Regular Giving (by bank standing order or the envelope scheme)  and £9,000 collected via service collections. These amounts include the additional Gift Aid payments we get from the Inland Revenue which turn anything given by a person who pays tax at the standard rate into £1.28 at no extra cost to the giver.

The £58,000 of current annual giving equates to an average annual giving of around £265 per person on our electoral roll of 219 or an average of £22/mth - but it is well to remember these are averages - some give far more where they are able to do so and some can only give what they can afford, some hardly any.

We are always trying to balance the books and therefore if you are regularly attending St. Wilfrid's and could make a planned regular contribution  this would be very much appreciated.

There are various ways you can help:

  1. Place your offering with the service collection. Note envelopes are provided to 'Gift Aid' this collection which, if you pay tax at the standard rate allows us to claim an additional 28p for every pound given at no extra cost to  yourself.

  2. Joining the Free Will Offering Envelope scheme where you put your donation in an envelope and hand in with the collection - please see Jean Rose , 98 Nyetimber Lane Tel: 01243 265644 for more details.

  3. By far the best way for most people these days is to arrange a monthly or regular payment via a Bank Standing Order - please see our Stewardship Officer Dennis Shepherd 5 Parkway, Bognor Regis  Tel : 01243 865465 if you would like to help in this way.
